Mulch and Gravel

We have access to all types of mulch and gravel. Mulching your beds or tree rings will help the following;

Insulation – Mulch helps keep soil temperature to the extreme

Enrichment – Mulch provides nutrients and nitrogen to the soil

Moisture – Mulch will help retain water in beds

Weeds – Mulch serves as a barrier to help prevent seeds from germinating

Appearance – Mulch makes a bed standout, giving that clean look

Protection – Mulch buffers plants and trees from lawn equipment

Erosion – Mulch helps anchor soil on a slope

Mulch and Gravel

Gravel comes in many different colors and sizes, ranging from black to dark gray to earth tones, off whites, and white. These colors reinforce the form of a landscape element, and add a striking emphasis, much like a decorative frame draws the viewer into a painting. Unlike mulch, gravel has staying power. It does not decompose and often can go years without needing any care. When the time does come to spruce it up all it takes is adding a small amount of stone to the areas that need it. Gravel will also help keep the weeds down, maintain moisture in the soil, and reduce or eliminates water and wind erosion.

Hydro-seeding

Hydro-seeding is a fast, cost effective way to have a new, green lawn that will turn your neighbors green with envy. A combination of water, grass seed, hydro-mulch, and fertilizer is mixed to create a slurry. This mix is then sprayed onto prepared soil in one operation. The advantage is the slurry mix, which absorbs and stores water, allowing the grass seed to germinate under ideal conditions. With proper care, a hydro-seeded lawn will show growth within five to seven days and complete germination at three weeks. The hydro-seeding process creates a healthy soil environment and well established lawn that will prove its value for years to come.

Sod

Laying Sod on your lawn has several appealing advantages. It will provide you with a lush, dense, weed-free lawn immediately. Because of its density, it will also discourage future weeds from taking root. Sod creates an instant lawn without waiting weeks for seed germination which means less mud and straw getting tracked around. Sod can also be installed any time of year providing that your ground is not frozen and the sod farm is open.

Rip Rap

Rip Rap is not just for shorelines. It can also be used on inlets and outlets for culverts, bridges, slope drains, grade stabilization structures, and storm drains. Basically where the velocity of flow from these structures exceeds the capacity of the downstream area to resist erosion. Rip Rap can also be used for an up-to-date fashion look for drainage control areas around your home and commercial property.

Retaining Walls

Many people may not know or understand the true purpose of a retaining wall. The obvious reason is to offer your property curb appeal and a finished look, but there are other reasons as well. Retaining walls are designed and constructed to not only retain grade of your yard, but to move water away from your foundation and out into your yard thus preventing water from entering your basement.

Dirt Work and Finish Grading

Proper grading and drainage are two of the most important factors related to our industry. Improper grading, drainage, and soil preparation can result in poor water management, poor plant establishment and survival, and possible deterioration of the affected areas. Before leaving your site, we will make sure the following items are completed:

  • Preparation for retaining walls, seeding or sod installation
  • Ensure proper runoff and prevent pooling of water in lawns
  • Grade away from house foundation to help prevent water seepage
  • Level uneven areas around the property to ensure even mowing
  • Remove large dirt clods or rocks
